We had 20 hardness and water stains throughout the house. Photos attached show before and after or our bath water at it's worst and then currently. Our iron was about 1.4 of the non dissolvable kind and .1 of the other. The water if sitting in a dog bowl would turn orange red color before this filter. We had some sediment also in our water so I installed an aquaboon whole house 20 micron filter. With both devices we haven't had any issues with our well water pressure.After being quoted $500+ to have the softener and filter installed I decided to do it myself. It took a little while to get down but now that I've done one it would be so easy to do another. If you don't need a filter before, I honestly think you could do the physical install including programming in under 90 minutes. If you get the shark bite water lines for the in and out it's as simple as cutting the water line and twisting the water line adapters into the plastic bypass and then shoving the shark bite pieces onto the water pipe ends that you cut. I can't believe I almost paid someone so much to do this and I'm not the handiest person ever. I used the shark bite water lines from home Depot and they were about $13 each. They also had 3/4" on one end I believe and 1" on the other I think so made the connection easy. I haven't had the water tested since but I set it to automatically back wash off the gallon limit isn't reached in 7 days. So far we've always hit the back wash limit before day seven. It's me and my wife and I believe that it's about 800 gallons before a back wash. We both take long showers and baths though so it's expected. Anyways we haven't had the water tested but after setting the hardness to 27 on the softener to account for the 1.5 grains of total iron, we have pretty clear and soft water. For the same setup, Culligan wanted over $6,000. That's a joke. You won't regret this system.
