Despite what this says, after some googling, I discovered you are only supposed to brew tea in here, not boil water. It says in the description that it is stovetop safe, but in the Engrish instructions, it vaguely hints this is not the best idea. A few searches lead me to the fact that if it has a different interior than the exterior, it is not all cast iron and not made for the stovetop.Cons:~The Diffuser is mesh junk. Literally looks like it'd only be good for straining spaghetti or catching stuff at the bottom of the sink after washing dishes. Tons of leaves got through. I have a real diffuser that I bought separately that I love, and I recommend buying ANYTHING else. It also has no handle or anything to remove the diffuser with, so that's another issue if you literally have nothing else. It'll work in a pinch if it's all you have, but please if you buy this, buy a diffuser with it!~ It tiny. It's cute and little and I love it for that, and I'll get about three cups of tea out of it for my 5ML cup. I wouldn't use it if you're wanting a huuge amount of tea, but it's great for a small serving.~has a weird smell when first running boiling water in itPros:~It's great for a small serving. Just pouring tea for myself, it has plenty.~It's neat. It's got a cool look and being all iron it's heavy and weighty and feels nice for the price.~It keeps your tea HOT. Like wow, it's super hot. I like that I don't have to rush to enjoy my tea.~The coloring seems even and even if it's not being used it'll look cool sitting somewhere.~It pours nicely, and doesn't seem to spill or threaten to drop the lid the moment you tilt it.~Could probably take out two or three people charging at you with it while you make tea.Overall it's nice. I just brewed my first pot of tea, and despite the horrible diffuser, (which is the reason for no five stars) it's a good teapot. I did as suggested in the instructions and what I found online, and poured boiling water in first, swished it around, and then poured it out and then made tea with new boiling water. There is a weird smell when you first boil water in it, almost familiar, kind of smells like a department store. Regardless, I'd suggest making sure to run a couple of boiling water flushes through it just to make sure you don't have to worry about anything. The tea tastes great, despite all the little tea leaves floating around inside.I'm pretty happy with it, of course I'll amend that if it insults my dog or melts from the inside out or something. But for the moment, it seems like a good tea brewer. Just be sure to heat the water elsewhere first, and I'm sure this'll last for quite some time. On opening, it seems neat, and dries quickly. I like it and currently would recommend it.I bought this two months ago, have used it at least once every day since then, and it is working wonderfully so far. If it stays in good condition for a full year, I will update this to a five star rating.Overall I love this kettle, although I would not recommend it to everyone simply based on individual needs. If you have busy, chaotic mornings or you need your tea prepared as quickly as possible, an electric kettle will be better for you. If you are making more than two cups of tea at once, you will need a larger kettle. But if you are looking for something simple, beautiful, and quiet to lend some calm to your routine, I would definitely recommend this. Most electric kettles can boil a cup of water in about 3 minutes, whereas this takes about 4.5-5 minutes on my stovetop, depending on the starting temp of my water. To me, an extra couple of minutes is not a big deal since I usually spend it prepping breakfast anyways. The first time I used it, I timed how long it took to boil a cup, and now I set a timer whenever I turn the stove on. This makes for a much quieter experience than a whistle kettle, and I also don’t overboil the water nearly as often anymore. It’s also quieter than the electric kettles I’ve used, which can get pretty noisy when heating up.As far as care goes, I would closely follow the instructions that come with the package. Do not use high heat on this, even if you are feeling impatient. On my stove, I use a little less than medium heat, and I make sure that the flame is not reaching past the edge of the bottom—this is the most important part! Also, follow the guidelines for the max amount of water you can boil at once! I think this is about 2 cups of water. Even though the kettle can hold around 3 cups, that’s more for use as a teapot. I only use filtered water, and about once a week or so I will boil vinegar water to clean the interior. Also, immediately after using it, I remove the lid and set it aside to let any leftover water evaporate. This should be done with pretty much any metal kettle in order to keep it clean and rust-free.In conclusion, this is perfect for a quiet cup of tea. I find that I enjoy the tea making process more since switching from an electric kettle, which means I am drinking tea more often. The paint is already chipping. It’s a piece of garbage.A few observations.1. Other than in the description, there is nothing Japanese about it. Made in China.2. It is HEAVY.3. It can at most boil only a 250ml cup of water. Any more and the water spews out of the spout.4. Everything gets very hot. The cover, the handle. Be very very careful! And so does the water and tea.5. Would have returned it but wife likes the look of the kettle and I make my 1 cup of tea in it and like that the tea is hot. I make Indian style black tea with tea leaves.6. In spite of use for a month still burn my hands touching either the cover or handle! This cast iron tea pot is decorative and can sit out, while also functional. It keeps the tea hot. The filter basket is easy to clean. Pot arrived earlier than the scheduled delivery date. We are very happy with this pot.Después de casi un mes de uso, ya muestra signos de óxido, y siempre se ha secado, más parece que se está despintando.
