This iron rest protects my ironing board cover perfectly .I wanted something small that would fit in my costume bag. Have used it many times when ironing costumes for plays and musicals. Still looks brand new.Wish there was a way to hold it of affix it to the table iron holder.I purchased this silicone iron rest for my 92 year young Mom. She used one similar to this years ago that was made of metal.I bought her this as a safety precaution where she can lie her iron flat instead of standing the iron up where it could easily topple over. This Household Essentials gives me a bit more confidence in her wanting, rather insisting, to do the ironing at her age.The pad itself was an "Amazon Choice" and I can see why. It's nice and thick and has a textured surface that is simpler to prevent the iron from slipping. It's generous in size and should fit all standard irons. I'm pleased, my Mom is pleased, and I believe you will be too!!I'm a quilter and decided to do an applique quilt. So I spend a lot of time at the ironing board, ironing on bits of material to create each 10" block. It occurred to me that an Iron Rest would be so handy and safer. It seems easier to handle the iron if I can just rest it on the pad. I also have a dog and cat, and I constantly worry they may run into the ironing board and topple the iron. I really like this rest for my "dry iron" that I use for quilting. It would not work very well for my steam iron as my steam iron turns off automatically when the iron remains in the resting (or flat) position for too long.My wife quilts. This means she has an iron set up for quite some time as she sews, irons out the pieces and sews some more. I like to visit with her, and am a notable klutz. We also have two large dogs, and a number of projects going at once. An iron, standing on the rests provided is an invitation to disaster. The Silicone Iron Rest Pad is impervious to heat, non-slip, waterproof, and lets the iron rest business-side down. It doesn't get hot and present an additional hazard like metal rests. The only problem left is that the steam iron is not designed to sit this way, and the water leaks out--not a problem with the pad. In fact, the silicone collects the water, so at least it is not dripping all over the place. Not a perfect solution, but, the best yet.this item has made life so much easier for me. My sewing area is small and trying to place a hot iron somewhere after use was difficult (I have cats and they climb on everything) having a heat safe spot to place the iron is pretty awesome :)Finally done with replacing ironing board covers because I've burned through the material. Years ago we could get those silver ones and I kept looking and never found but recently found this. Works fine. My only very tiny objection is they show it with iron face down. I put my iron up on end or the water pours out. Anyway, when it's up on end, it's not totally stable since it has bumps. The bumps are for when it's face down. Turning it over is not an option. A better option would be to maybe have higher edges for those that want to put it face down and leave the center smoothIt was a bit expensive. So far, the heat resistance seems acceptable. It is not unattractive, but it does have a large footprint.Buen material de fabricación. Cumple expectativas.
